Namita Nayyar:

You are a first-generation blogger and highly awarded popular beauty content creator since 2011. Please share your journey as Founder & Content Creator of What When Wear and Wearified

Aanam Chashmawala:

I wish I could say that it’s been a strategic move on going from creator to founder. But in all honestly, it’s just been so organic. I’ve seen how much the space has changed over the past decade – its gone from being creativity-first to an industry that’s far too number-driven for my personal liking, so I knew it was time for me to branch out and consider an add on the way of doing what I love while keeping my community at its core. The journey has definitely had its ups and downs, but it’s been so fulfilling and very worth it!

Namita Nayyar:

It is said, Building a brand on social media paid off when you bought a home in Mumbai at just 26. Lifestyle Asia India caught up with you to get tips on how to save and begin one’s investment journey. Please throw light on how women should go about managing finance & running a family.

Aanam Chashmawala:

I think the first and most important thing is figuring how much money you MAKE (not bill for, actually make in nets profits) and then dividing the same between all the categories. I’m a strong believer in putting my needs ahead of my wants, and the joy of seeing my assets appreciate means more to me than a luxury item I’m going to use once or twice a year, (which sometimes makes me feel I’m in the wrong industry lol). I’m not really qualified to give tips, but if I had one thing to share, it would be to write every single expense down so you can analyze where your money is going at the end of each month. This is where you can figure your potential savings and course-correct if needed.

Namita Nayyar:

You live by the motto ‘real girl’ and the same has translated into your brand. Please elaborate.

Aanam Chashmawala:

You know when I started blogging; magazines were all about the gloss. and blogging wasn’t really a thing (the way it is today) in India. so when I couldn’t relate to a lot of things in the print, and when I would struggle to find that perfect foundation shade – by mixing 3 others – I realized there was a content gap in the space that I wanted to try my hand at. as a media grad even, I didn’t know this could go on to be my job. I thought it was a hobby and then I was building up my profile for something in the space of beauty/fashion writing or styling, but what that led me to was far more beautiful.

Namita Nayyar:

What kind of diet do you follow to stay healthy & fit? Share your personal food preferences. 5 foods you love to incorporate into your diet?

Aanam Chashmawala:

I don’t believe in fad diets and I love my food far too much to really adhere to anything specific. My mantra is super basic – incorporate a balance of everything so that you’re happy with what you consume and also give your body what it needs.

Namita Nayyar:

How do you like to kick start your day?

Aanam Chashmawala:

On an ideal day, I like to start my day at about 6-6:30 with some quiet time, meditation, or workout, followed by some green tea and a nice hot shower. I don’t really get into executing work until 9 or 10 am.

Namita Nayyar:

Recently, Cosmopolitan Magazine invited 12 fabulous women to bare their tummies. To remind us that everybody is a bikini body! You were among those fabulous women. What would you like to say about women facing belly issues?

Aanam Chashmawala:

I think it’s high time we start encouraging women to embrace and love their bodies, rather than propagating ‘how to get a bikini body’ kind of nonsense. I’m honestly tired of being asked on social media whether I’m pregnant each time I let my stomach just be rather than sucking it in.

Namita Nayyar:

Beauty & Grace are a significant part of you. Please share your skin & hair care routine. 5 things women should absolutely follow to delay aging & look their best.

Aanam Chashmawala:

I never go to bed without serum and/or moisturizer. I wash my hair only once a week and use dry shampoo between washes to soak up any sweat or oils (i also have a normal to dry scalp, which helps). I never go to sleep with my lips bare, there’s always a lip balm or mask or something of that sort to help my perpetually chappy lips. And I worship a good leave-in conditioner!!

Namita Nayyar:

Body Shaming is becoming increasingly popular these days. According to you what is the right way to evaluate one’s physical & emotional well-being?

Aanam Chashmawala:

I genuinely feel bad for the people who body shame me on the internet – I feel like they’ve been so deeply conditioned, and clearly haven’t been able to UN-learn even with so much information and conversation. I’ve learned to not let the randomness of the internet affect me over the years.

Namita Nayyar:

You have also had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing beauty brands. Your, tip when out to shop for a beauty product (say a lipstick.)

Aanam Chashmawala:

If lipsticks are what you’re looking for, I’m going to shamelessly say shop Wearified 🙂

Namita Nayyar:

Your upcoming future plans in 2022?

Aanam Chashmawala:

To build Wearified further, and work on our next launches. To vlog more often, I’ve found a deeper connection with my audience while working on Vlogmas last month and I want to try and give them more of what they want.

Namita Nayyar:

New Year message for your fans & followers

Aanam Chashmawala:

Be kind, the world needs more of it right now
