Anusha, you are a VJ, actor, host, and model, tell us how did your journey begin in the entertainment industry, and was this something that you always wanted to pursue

Ms. Anusha Dandekar

I wanted to be an MTV Vj since I was 9 years of age and told everyone about it. I really did will it into the universe and believed it was mine. I was lucky to grow up being a part of dance academies, singing lessons, and even acting classes when I was really young. Along with all the sports I played, my mother drove me around everywhere to make it happen, she honestly is a wonder woman. I would perform in competitions and loved the stage and camera always! I even did a film with a tiny part at 11 and played an extra for a tv show, which was great coz I got out of school so many times! I did a commercial and went for auditions. Even in school, I would participate in everything to do with stage performances and public speaking.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Anusha, you have been part of reality shows like MTV love school, India’s next top model, do you plan to do more reality shows in the future?

Ms. Anusha Dandekar

I know reality shows are the biggest genre taking over our screens these days in terms of addictive content… I love the shows I have done and do. They have all been so different and to watch people’s growth and your own from everything you take away from the show and the people you meet along the way, is definitely special. I love the shows I have done because they have never been scripted. So yes I would love to do more, with even more substance. My fav reality show right now is Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It’s brilliant! I would love to be a part of something that brings people and communities together!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You recently turned an entrepreneur by launching your brand Brown Skin beauty, tell us more about it and how was your experience with launching your brand? Hardships and problems you came across

Ms. Anusha Dandekar

Well, I guess this is my reality show of bringing people and our community together! Launching this Brand has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Some days I dance with joy, cry with joy, sometimes I just cry coz I’m so tired hehe! Most days I am just focused on pushing our messaging, making sure we make everyone feel included in the beauty community, I feel overwhelmed with the msgs I receive from girls who have started embracing their skin tone and started loving themselves and say things like they love looking in the mirror now!  I guess the hardships are like any other, building a brand over the phone and zoom calls! Yet online shopping and the Skin industry had a boom in business and we were lucky to be a part of that with so much heart, meaning, and great products to go with it!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Women Fitness India, talks about celebrity diets and fitness regimes, do you follow any special diets? What are your favorite midnight snacks?

Ms.Anusha Dandekar

Honestly, I have never believed in dieting. I believe in being grateful for any food we receive and eat. I believe in enjoying our blessings and if you are good at your food, it will be good for you. Also, everything is in moderation, humans tend to be greedy, and we should eat when we are hungry. I used to have the habit of eating every time I watch something. Now I watch something every time I have to eat! My fav snack though is popcorn, peanut butter, jam sandwiches, apple, and chips together sounds weird but it’s yum!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Physical fitness is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle, how do manage your workout routine? How many times in a week do you workout

Ms. Anusha Dandekar

I do not have a routine honestly. I always start something, get super into it, then a shoot or my business gets too busy and I stop. But I love to rotate all the things I love and lucky all the people who train me are so patient with my sporadic approach. Gymnastics is my all-time fav, then Pilates, tennis and ballet. I cannot go to a gym because I find it boring and I don’t actually know what to do there. I much prefer outdoor activities like hikes and running on the beach, love it!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Mental fitness goes hand in hand with Physical fitness, how do you take care of your mental health? Do you meditate?

Ms.Anusha Dandekar

This is so important and I am so glad everyone is opening up more about it. I struggle to meditate, I am such a hyperactive person. My mental health is usually taken care of by really good music, writing down my thoughts and gratitude, countering the negative with positives, and the good things I learned from the experience and journey. Watching comedies and talking to my friends and family.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You talk about self-love, a message for our readers on how to prioritize loving oneself over toxic relationships in 2022

Ms. Anusha Dandekar

Honestly dig deep and ask yourself why you thought you were in such a relationship. We always accept the love we think we deserve, so why did you think you deserved toxic? And when you dig deep and finally see your worth, don’t make excuses or blame anyone for why you stayed. Understand that you had to go through it to grow through it… and the best part is you made it and now you know who you are and what you want and deserve so much better, so go get it!
