Blogger Charu Gujjal on “Each day spent with my little girl is cherishable “

It is usually said having a daughter is God’s way of saying – ‘thought, you could use a lifelong friend’. And so! Daughters are special. They are a wonderful package of love, care, and thoughtfulness. They are sweet, sensible, and equally strong – and that is precisely what makes them beautiful.

My daughter, who’s now four years old, is extremely naughty, but equally sweet and smart. She is cute-ness and sassy-ness rolled into one. We share an incredibly special bond. Her sweet smile melts my heart, much like her words ‘I love you mumma uplift my day. I call her my ‘Powerpuff girl’ as she is highly headstrong and knows exactly what she wants. And as much this quality of hers feels overwhelming right now (as her demands for toys are endless for now 😉), it’s something I look up to and totally admire.

My Plan To Celebrate Daughters’ Day

Each day spent with my little girl is cherishable and counts as Daughters’ Day.

However, I wouldn’t miss an opportunity to celebrate this dedicated day and make her feel all the more ‘special’.

In usual circumstances, we would have celebrated by going out to a play-area followed by a brunch or dinner together.

But since this ‘pandemic’ year is a little unusual and we can’t step out much, we are planning to do all that at home.

We are going to indulge in a cooking session together followed by a movie marathon.

We will bond over healthy makhana kheer (her favorite dish) while watching her favorite movie. She usually likes to help me in the kitchen, but I often keep her guard up. But for this day I will let her enjoy the kitchen her way, without any guidelines.

Charu’s Special Makhana Kheer Recipe

Here is my quick recipe of Makhana Kheer, that you too can try with your daughter on this special day –

  1. Roast half-cup Makhana (fox nuts) in ghee. Cool them and grind in a mixer to a coarse powder.
  2. Boil some milk in a pan. Once it comes to a boil, add chopped walnuts & almonds.
  3. Add a few raisins and jaggery for sweetness.
  4. Once it thickens, add coarsely crushed makhana. Mix well and switch off the flame
  5. Delicious kheer is ready. Garnish it with some pistachios and ‘lots of love’.

Charu’s Message for Daughters’ Day

Daughters are undoubtedly a blessing, and they deserve to be celebrated ‘everyday’. There are still some stigmas attached to having a girl child (in some countries) and they need to be erased.

The only way we can do that is by cherishing our daughters every single day and raising them with equal love and respect (as we do to our sons).

Let’s celebrate each day as Daughters’ Day and give our little girls wings to fly and achieve their dreams in life.
