Chinki Yadav Sports Air Pistol Shooter

Chinki Yadav from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh won her first bronze medal in the junior women’s 25-meter pistol event at the 2015 Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait City with a score of 570.

In 2016, Chinki got an international breakthrough in her career when she won her first international Gold medal in the 25m air pistol team event at the ISSF World Cup held in Gabala, Azerbaijan.

She competed at the 2019 ISSF World Cup held in Beijing but failed to make it to the final of the event in 25m air pistol after she finished 95th in the qualification round. Later that year, she participated in the Asian Shooting Championships where she scored 588 points and qualified for the final after finishing in the qualification round. In the final, she didn’t win a medal as she finished in 6th position.

Her qualification to the final of the event earned her Olympics berth in the Women’s 25m air pistol category at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Unfortunately, she was not on the Tokyo Olympics team.

Namita Nayyar:

You are an Indian sport shooter who has competed in the 25-meter pistol event and won two gold medals at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) world cup, 2021. When & how did shooting became a part of your life and finally a professional sport.

Chinki Yadav:

I started shooting in 2012 as a hobby. In the 2013 national championship, I took my shooting as a professional sport. And then in the upcoming years, it became an important part of my life. 

Namita Nayyar:

You have been declared the world’s top-ranked pistol shooter in the women’s 25m category with 1110 rating points. Also, number 1 shooter in the world. Share an insight into the training routine you are required to follow related to the sport & workout.

Chinki Yadav:

 From waking up in the morning to sleep at night I follow a proper routine for my sport, diet, recovery, workout, etc. 

Namita Nayyar:

Your piece of advice for girls or beginners aspiring to take this sport at a professional level. Top 5 & why?

Chinki Yadav:

 (i) Be Calm And patient– for your sport because patience is important, we tend to react but being calm makes us more confident and focused on our sport.

(ii)  Fitness -because we must train throughout the day and for that, we must be strong (mentally and physically).

(iii)Diet -because to be fit we have to eat well and also diet and fitness go hand in hand.

(iv) Discipline – because it helps in our daily routine, being disciplined helps us track our progress day today. 

(V) Recovery– because when we train hard our mind, and our body gets tired eventually and there is a chance of injuries, so recovery time is major for our sport. As we use the same muscle for a long time, so we have chances for injuries so it’s better to have a recovery time to play the sport for the long term.

Namita Nayyar:

Your daily diet plans? Foods you include & try to keep to a minimum? How do you like to kick start your day?

Chinki Yadav:

 I follow the diet plan given to me by my dietitian, I start my day by drinking a glass of water.

 Namita Nayyar:

Any Supplements you take for enhanced performance?

Chinki Yadav:

No, I don’t take any supplements.

Namita Nayyar:

Does shooting call for constant focus and a sharp eye on target? How do you go about enhancing your skills?

Chinki Yadav:

Practicing meditation helps me in enhancing my focus, also daily training of my sport

Namita Nayyar:

Motivational Quote you live by? Any role models. The secret behind your success.

Chinki Yadav:

 I will walk, run, and fly, I may fall but I will rise again and one day I’ll create history.

No, I don’t have a role model. The secret behind my success is support from my family, my loved ones.

Namita Nayyar:

What are you practicing at times when not training for sports?

Chinki Yadav:

I continue practicing my workouts and meditation exercises when not training for sports

In life we don’t get what we expect so we should always be prepared to face what life throws at us, our goal will always be the same but the path changes, and maybe the path will not be the same, but your goal should be, be prepared for the everything.
