Tips to Indulge in Christmas and New Year Celebrations

By  Kejal Shah, NUTRIVITY

It’s that time of year when everyone is in a happy mood.  The weeklong Christmas and New Year’s celebrations make the world sparkle with lights and charm. It’s vital to keep in mind that many lifestyle choices are interconnected, even though nutrition is a great place to start. Your mood can be positively or negatively impacted by a variety of factors, including your sleep hygiene and stress management techniques.

Balance: Key to Healthy Christmas and New Year

Use these suggestions to make sure you and your loved ones are secure and healthy as you celebrate Christmas and the New Year.

Make Healthier choices:

Learn to choose the food you value the most rather than mindlessly accepting whatever is supplied. This can help you to prioritize quality over quantity. If at all feasible, choose something baked rather than something that is deep-fried.

Snack Before going to parties:

Before the celebration, eat something: Avoid attending parties on an empty stomach. Before leaving, eat a quick, nutritious snack, such as a protein-rich food that will keep you satisfied. You can avoid overindulging later on by doing this. Try eating some nuts and seeds or a protein bar.

Eat slowly and gradually:

Make an effort to chew your food thoroughly, focus on the flavours you are tasting, and recognize the goodness.

Watch Your Drinks:

You have the freedom to choose whether or not to use alcohol. If you decide to consume alcohol, maintain your intake within the advised range. Even in those who don’t drink much on a regular basis, binge drinking or heavy drinking raises the risk of heart disease. To lessen the dangers to your long-term health, be sure you are aware of the recommended alcohol intake. Before consuming alcohol, ensure you’re hydrated. Drink non-alcoholic beverages in between alcoholic ones to keep your overall consumption in check.

Maintain a log:

Tracking your diet, water, and exercise can help you stay responsible. Don’t consider it a hardship. Keeping track of your food and beverage intake will help you stay on track. Be truthful and record every meal you consume!

Earn your Treats Before you Indulge:

Treats that leave you feeling bad later aren’t delightful. Eat well before attending the holiday party or get some exercise before sitting down to a substantial holiday dinner. You’ll feel better and enjoy yourself more as a result.

Stay Active:

The focus of the festive season is on family and friends. Consider substituting enjoyable family-friendly activities for your regular fitness program. Encourage the kids to play street or beach cricket, play chasey in the garden, or go swimming at the beach. Although social exercise might not seem like a typical “workout,” it allows everyone the opportunity to participate, and it has physical benefits.

Enjoy the holiday festivities, but make sure you take all the necessary health precautions to be healthier and fitter.

Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all!
