Jasmin Walia is a British Indian television personality, singer, songwriter, actress and businesswoman. She first came into limelight with the British reality television show The Only Way Is Essex. She gained popularity with her English-Punjabi single “Dum Dee Dee Dum” (2016). Her English-Punjabi track, “Bom Diggy” (2017) with Zack Knight, featured in the top Indian pop charts.

Let’s talk to the “Bom Diggy” fame star, Jasmin Walia about making it big in Bollywood and world over.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You first came into limelight with the British reality television show The Only Way Is Essex. Tell us more about your entry into the glamorous world of entertainment?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

I have been doing the whole entertainment industry for a while, since I was very young. A lot of people don’t know this but I was in Harry Potter haha! I also did musical theatre. It’s all I really know. Its been a lot of hard work and The only way is essex was a really great platform for me to showcase myself and at the time I really enjoyed it but it wasn’t exactly what my heart wanted to do. I always loved to sing  and that’s what I always wanted to do so I decided to release my first official song 2 years ago ‘Dum Dee Dum’. Then it kind of went from there, I worked on it all independently. With money I worked for I just invested it back in to myself and I funded all my own videos and my music. Now I am doing it full time and I just love it so much!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You were voted as the sexiest Asian in UK in December 2014 in the poll by UK-based Eastern Eye magazine. Share top 3 secrets to flawless skin and body?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

3  Tips – I go to the sauna/steam every 2 days, I do squats because its the best for your bum and legs and lastly I take vitamin tablets.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have created your own fashion line, Pop by Jasmin, with the product range of lipsticks and beauty accessories. What motivated you to start this?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

I love make up! I am so pleased with the response. A lot of people used to always comment on all the lip shades I wore and so one day I was just like I am promoting other people’s brands, and so why not make a brand for myself where I get to choose the shade of colours I really like and I know my fans will really like. Actually the collections have both sold out. I need to work on a new bigger collection but I am just finding the time as lately been a little difficult as music is my first priority. But I will definitely love to expand the brand and create more products. I also wanted to make the brand target catered for more asian skin colours and what suited them.

Trick to a good warm-up & why is it so important before a workout session?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

Warm up so important as if you didn’t warm up you can cause serious injury to your body. Its like when you go straight to exercise you are shocking your body where as when you warm up you are gently allowing the body to realise that you are now going to be doing an intense workout. To warm up I simply just stretch and do like side steps, roll my next and hips around. Basic warm ups you can find on YouTube. I would also say that when I warm up and for example if I am about to dance. The pain the next day I don’t get as much but when I DO NOT warm up the pain is soooo much worse!

Three components that are key essentials in your fitness regime? Your forever target area.

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

My bum, my legs and toning my stomach. They are what most people look at first. 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What does your first meal of the day look like? 5 foods to kick start the day?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

I have porridge then just after that I have salmon, scrambled eggs, kale drizzled in lemon juice. With orange juice on the side. Then take a green shake which maybe I will have like, kale inside, spinach, apple, banana etc…

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Cheat meals that you can’t resist?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

Haha I have a lot of cheat meals I cannot lie, Kebab Roll, Pani Puri, Chaat and Chinese! 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Your favourite activewear brands are?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

I love Victoria Secrets, Adidas and Nike I wear these the most. 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Do you follow any skincare and hair care routine, after a sweaty workout? 5 skin care rituals.

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

After I work out and had my sauna and steam, I usually use like a cleanser/toner and good moisturising cream. I also use this filgora oil which really hydrates my skin and I don’t wear any make up after that. I also sometimes wear hydrating eye masks, as my job is so much work and no sleep so sometimes I can see my eyes are tired and getting dry. I actually oil my hair once every 2 weeks and after I finish my work out I usually leave the conditioner hair mask in for like 20 mins so it soaks in to my scalp and the nutrients make it look shiny. I use also a face scrub after work out to get rid of all the dead skin that gets clogged up when I have been sweating in the gym.

You have an incredible social media following on your account @jasminwalia. What is the best and worst part about it?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

Thank you. The best is that the more I get the more people can hear and see my music! Also I guess shows more people are supporting you which is always an amazing feeling. The worst is that I sometimes get anxious about what I post because you are open for a lot of criticism if you post something wrong. I sometimes have to think about my captions! haha 

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

5 things we’ll always find in your gym bag?

Ms. Jasmin Walia:

My gym card, water bottle, bikini, a bag full of products (shampoo, conditioner, scrub , facial wash etc..) and Hairband. Oh and flip flops as I will not walk anywhere in the pool with out my flip flops.
