Women Fitness India joins the beautiful actress and mom, Juhi Parmar for an interesting conversation on this Mother’s Day!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You started your journey with an iconic role of Kumkum in Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan that came to be known in each Indian household and went on to do reality shows and now you have entered the YouTube world, you definitely had a journey of your own, Now that you look back how would you describe it all?

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

I describe my journey as fulfilling and I am grateful for it because when I thought of becoming an actor, I never thought of a particular medium, all I knew was I wanted to act. Then from serials to reality shows, I realized the excitement and the adrenaline rush that you experience while participating in a reality show, I loved that too. Now when I am a YouTuber and a vlogger, there is no character that I am playing, there is no competition like a reality show. You have to be out there for a lot of people who want to see how you live, who want to understand how you do certain things. It’s a gradual progression and I am happy about it. I am happy that I can connect to so many people through my channel and can come up with the content that I like and would want to share with them without depending on any particular storyline or guidelines to follow by anybody else. It’s quite a freedom and I am loving this whole sense of freedom. I have loved every bit of being an actor, be it playing characters to doing reality shows to now having my little channel.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

On your YouTube channel you have talked about weight loss journey and suffering from a thyroid disorder, any tips you would like to share on how important it is to stay positive while trying to lose weight. Also, share Thyroid management tips you followed.

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

The first and the foremost thing when you want to lose weight is to stay positive. When you are negative, you tend to slip in depression which will not help you work towards achieving your goals. You have to stay calm, you have to be positive and work towards achieving your goal.

I have spoken a lot about Thyroid management in my channel and people can go see that because it’s not just one thing that you need to do, there are a couple of things that you need to follow to be able to reach a stage where your Thyroid comes under control.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have been an inspiration for all single mothers out there and also been an example of how normal lives actors live, any message you would like to share for all single mothers out there. 3 Challenges of a single mother.

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

Thank you so much for saying that I am an inspiration for all the single mothers out there and that I am setting an example of how actors can live normal lives but actors are normal people. There is no reason for them to think that they are not supposed to live normal lives, it’s just a job, as others go to offices and do their job, an actor goes to the set and acts. As normal a life is better it is.

My message for all the single mothers is that God gives the responsibility only to those who he feels are capable of fulfilling it. If God chose certain women, certain mothers to be single moms, for whatever reason they have become single mothers, then their shoulders are strong enough. God trusted their shoulders to put that huge responsibility on them. Trust yourself, trust your strength, go and face all the challenges with full confidence because you’ve got it.

I can’t pinpoint three challenges of a single mother because the moment you call a mother a single mother you just know that her life is going to be full of challenges. I would ideally say she should be called a ‘double parent’, a single mother is a mother and father as well. She is a provider and nurturer. She takes care of the home and also goes out and earns the bread and butter for the family. She has to be at work and she has to attend a parent-teacher meeting. She has to be there at home when the child is not well and at the same time entertain the child and go out with them. She has to take the child on vacation and yet fulfill all professional commitments. So life is full of challenges when you overcome them you look at yourself in the mirror, smile, and say that you are a winner.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Do you follow any particular diet? What are your favourite cheat meals?

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

I follow a diet only when I want to lose weight, otherwise, I am quite a foodie. I have followed a strict diet twice in my life. First, when I had put on weight because of Thyroid many years back and then post-delivery when I wanted to lose the maternity weight. These were the two times when I had a huge goal to lose 15-20 kgs and I had to follow a certain diet but apart from that I know I can manage 2-3 kgs up or down. I don’t follow a proper diet every single day, I believe in eating healthy. I make sure that I am not eating too much junk and even when it is a cheat meal, it doesn’t have to be junk. Currently, I am not on any particular diet, I just eat healthily. As I said I am a foodie, there is not just one thing that I love to eat when it comes to cheating but fried fish is my favourite.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What is your favourite workout? Your top 3 favourite indoor exercises.

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

I am not too much of a workout person. The kind of workout that I like to do involves jumping around, dancing, and playing with my daughter. Not only is it great cardio but it helps with weight loss and it is a lot of fun. Otherwise, indoors there is not much you can do apart from the same kind of exercises that you would do in the gym and those aren’t my favorite. Rather than sitting at home and working out I prefer going out for walks and taking in the fresh air.  Having said that, going out for walks has become a far-way-dream as I haven’t done that in the past 2 months.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

During this lockdown period, it is difficult to stay positive and motivated when inside, especially for children, Share any 5 tips on how you keep your daughter busy and occupied in the lock-down period?

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

Apart from work and going out to meet my friends I am more of a homebody, I don’t like to go out every day. One thing we are missing this year is our yearly vacation where I take Samaira for a holiday. We had major plans for this year too but everything has gone for a toss. Although I am fine being at home, I feel bad for Samaira. As a kid she wants to step out and play with her friends, go to school, learn new things but not being able to do any of those things is making her cringy. However, my parents and I try to keep her entertained. I have chalked out a routine for her where she has her study time, playtime, her me-time where she likes to read books, play board games, play with her toys and spend time with the family. I don’t allow her to watch TV or play on the phone as it’s not good for her eyes. All in all, we are trying to keep her busy and trying to deal with the situation as much as possible.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You share all types of content on our your Youtube channel from cooking to work out to self-grooming, what are your future plans and what kind of content we are likely to see on your channel?

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

The content on my channel isn’t pre-decided, I try to put up content relevant to the current times. Recently, I made videos on how to make face masks and sanitizer at home which were very well received and went viral.  There are times when I come across something while I am cooking and I feel it would be good/informative for my audience, so I put that up. It’s a very day-to-day thing for me, I like to motivate people, I want women to feel good about themselves as there is so much responsibility on their heads. With my video, whatever little I can do to bring a smile on their face I try to do that.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

5 Self-grooming night tips to a healthy skin.

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

I don’t have any fixed night care routine, I do things as and when I want to. After all, I am a mother and like you’ve said, ‘an actor who lives a normal life’… when it’s time to sleep we mothers are so tired that we don’t think of doing anything else. My daughter sleeps late, so by the time I put her to sleep, I am sleepy as well. So, there is no routine as such.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

One ritual you follow before going to bed at night.

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

One ritual I follow before going to bed at night is to snuggle up with my daughter, kiss her goodnight and tell her that I love her, she does the same and then we go off to sleep.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Lastly with Mother’s Day approaching what are your plans on making it special?

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

Talking of Mother’s Day plans makes me nostalgic because last year was fabulous. I was in the Maldives with my mother, father, and daughter. I do wish that I could do something as special as last time for my mom but it’s not possible. This year Mother’s Day is going to be celebrated at home. I have not thought about a plan yet but I am going to do something to make my mom feel special. Although she is made to feel special every day it’s an extra special day for her.
