Beyond Perfect: Jyotika Atree Keeps Motherhood Real

In an exclusive Mother’s Day interview with Women Fitness, Delhi-based mom blogger and lifestyle influencer Jyotika Atree opens up about her journey of embracing motherhood with honesty and grace. Known for her relatable take on parenting, along with content spanning fashion, beauty, and travel, she has built a community rooted in real experiences, mindful choices, and genuine connection.

Take us back to the beginning—what inspired you to start sharing your motherhood journey online?

Honestly, it started quite randomly. A few of my friends noticed that the products I was choosing for my daughter, Nitara, were quite niche—brands not many people were aware of. They would often say, “You shouldn’t keep this to yourself—your choices and your approach to parenting are actually really thoughtful.”

At the same time, when Nitara was around six months old, I was making a lot of homemade recipes for her. That sparked curiosity among people around me. That’s when it clicked—why not create a space where I can share everything I’m learning as a mother?

And that’s how it all began—very organically. Just real experiences, real choices, and a genuine desire to help other moms.

“Motherhood isn’t picture-perfect—and that’s okay.”

Your content reflects honesty and relatability—why was it important for you to keep motherhood real?

For me, it was never about creating a perfect image. Life with kids is messy, unpredictable, and beautifully imperfect. I didn’t want my content to put pressure on other mothers or make them feel like they’re not doing enough.

I wanted to create a space where moms feel seen and understood. I share both the good days and the tough ones—because real stories connect far more deeply than perfect ones ever can.

“Balance isn’t perfect—it’s showing up every day.”

How do you balance being a mother, creator, and individual?

Honestly, it’s not easy. There are days when you feel like you’re falling short in every role, and days when it all just feels overwhelming. You try to give your best everywhere, but sometimes it still doesn’t feel like enough.

But over time, you find your rhythm. This is something I truly wanted—to be present as a mother while also creating something of my own. So even on difficult days, I keep going. I keep showing up.

And eventually, you realise that balance isn’t about perfection—it’s about doing your best each day.

“Self-care doesn’t have to be perfect.”

How do you make time for fitness, diet, and self-care?

I don’t follow a fixed routine every day. Some days, it’s just a short walk or dancing at home—that’s my version of cardio. I try to stay mindful of my diet, even though it’s not always on time.

With everything going on, it’s easy to forget basic things like eating well or staying hydrated. But I’ve realised that your body needs care, no matter how busy life gets.

So I take small moments for myself whenever I can. Because if you don’t take care of yourself, you eventually feel completely drained.

“It’s the little moments that ground me.”

I believe in keeping life simple and real. Spending quality time with my kids grounds me the most.

Even small things—a quiet walk, listening to music, or just sitting in silence—help me reset. And sometimes, simply reminding myself to slow down and breathe makes all the difference.

“Learning to silence the noise.”

Have you faced criticism or mom-shaming?

Yes, definitely. Initially, it had a significant impact on me. I would question myself and overthink everything.

But with time, I realised that everyone will have an opinion. Now, I focus on what feels right for my child and me. I’ve learned to trust my journey and ignore the unnecessary noise.

“Be kind to yourself.”

How do you prioritize your mental and emotional well-being?

I try to take small breaks whenever I feel overwhelmed. Even a few minutes of quiet time helps.

I talk to my close ones when things feel heavy, and I remind myself that it’s okay not to be perfect. Being kind to yourself is so important, especially as a mother.
