Krishna Shroff On Not Being An Actor & Love For Fitness!

krishna shroff

Krishna Shroff, daughter of Bollywood veteran actor Jackie Shroff and sister of Tiger Shroff, always dominates for one reason or the other. She is included in the list of star kids who have achieved stardom without even making a debut in Bollywood. Krishna is a fitness freak just like her brother.

Krishna Shroff was sure about what she wanted to do in her life, and not just follow in their footsteps. Fitness and managing her MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) league are her life’s passions. People today praise her for her fit body, but what pushed Krishna into this sphere in the first place?

Women Fitness India gets in a candid chat with Krishna Shroff on Fitness, Lifestyle, and More exclusively as she graces our May Cover!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Krishna, You come from a Bollywood family, however, you choose to take a different career path and establish a career in fitness, tell us more about your journey?

Ms. Krishna Shroff

I’ve always been one to steer away from the norm. You’ll never find me following a trend or jumping on any bandwagon. I believe in making the most out of my every day by doing what I truly feel passionate about and what makes me happiest at my core. Fitness is something I wish I found sooner. It’s changed my life in all the right ways and I’m blessed to be able to make a living off of what makes me be the best version of myself as well as what helps people better themselves every single day. I love the fact that it’s been a rollercoaster of a journey. This isn’t something that’s handed to you. You have to motivate yourself to get off of your own ass every damn day and I fucking love it.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You have mentioned that your father Jackie Shroff wanted you to be an actress, how he reacted when you told him about your future plans

Ms. Krishna Shroff

Dad’s always been extremely supportive of whatever I wanted to do. At the end of the day, I guess every parent wants to see their kid happy. I believe he didn’t want the other pretty face in the family to go to waste, so I’ve made sure that isn’t the case here

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You have mentioned that your fitness inspiration is your brother Tiger Shroff, tell me how did he motivate you? Do you work out together?

Ms. Krishna Shroff

He definitely was my inspiration when I first began my journey, but seeing how far I’ve been able to come through my own perseverance and nobody else’s, I’ve become my own inspiration. He’s laid out a great foundation for me to follow as the elder sibling though, and for that, I’ll always be grateful. We’ll work out together once in a while, but not super often since I prefer training in the morning and he trains in the evening.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Women Fitness India talks about celebrity diets and fitness regimes, do you follow any special diets? What are your pre and post-workout meals?

Ms.Krishna Shroff

I’m honestly not big on diets. Most of them are fads and there’s no longevity in that. You have to make your training and the foods that you eat a lifestyle. Everyone is different, so I can only speak for myself. What has truly worked best for me has been portion controlling my food; however, I’ll never deprive myself of anything because I believe you have to be mentally at peace in order to look your best. Listen to your body and make sure you give it what it wants. My pre-workout meal is usually a piece of brown bread toast with melted butter on top, 3 white scrambled eggs, and a double shot of espresso to get me going. My post-workout meal depends on what I trained that day. If it’s a bigger muscle like on leg day, then I’ll indulge in some good carbs like white rice and potatoes (contrary to popular belief) along with any lean protein. If it’s a smaller muscle I’ve trained on the day

, I’ll focus on something high in protein.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

What consists of your fitness regime, do you prefer weight training over functional? How often do you include stretching and yoga in your regime?

Ms. Krishna Shroff

It’s weight training all day every day for me with a little bit of boxing for cardio purposes. I’ve always preferred higher impact training, so I don’t really bother with stretching the way I should.  Yoga is a definite no for me. Don’t have the patience for it. I do enjoy meditating for 15-20 mins post my workouts whenever I have the time to though. It’s a good way to re-center myself since my workouts are always pretty balls to the wall.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Your recent venture in MMA has been the talk of the town, tell us more about it.

Ms.Krishna Shroff

MMA Matrix and Matrix Fight Night have both been an absolute blessing in my life. Matrix, of course, being the MMA and fitness studio my brother and I began as a passion project in order to help motivate and inspire the youth of our country to develop and lead a healthier lifestyle as well as give our Indian athletes better infrastructure in order to take their skillset to the next level. Matrix Fight Night was conceptualized in association with MMA Matrix, in order to give our Indian athletes a bigger platform to showcase the immense talent within our country that goes unnoticed worldwide. We’ve recently been able to take it global and introduce extremely high-level international fighters to our shows as well.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Being the cover girl for Women Fitness India, you are an inspiration to young readers to prioritize health and fitness and your message for the same.

Ms. Krishna Shroff

Understand that this is a very individual game. You’re unique and there’s no one like you, so focus on your own path ahead and dwell on only those things that work best for you. It’s going to be a journey full of trial and error and ups and downs, but that’s what makes it so exciting and worth it once you do reach your end goal.
