Lataa Saberwal On Love For Acting, Fitness &Makeup!

Lataa Saberwal is an Indian film and TV actress, who has worked in Bollywood films, as well. She has played supporting roles in Bollywood films like Vivah and Ishq Vishq. Lataa is best known for her current role Rajshri Maheshwari in Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

She recently started her youtube channel where she shares makeup tutorials and workout videos!

For all her fans out there, Women Fitness India recently had the wonderful chance to chat with the stunning actor about her life, dreams, and much more

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You have been in the entertainment industry for almost a decade, having worked in both big screen and television. Share your experience on & off the screen 

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

It has been almost 2 decades since I am working in the entertainment industry. I am because of this industry and it has given me a lot. It is not that all experiences were very good, but, there was a lot of learning involved which made me grow as a person. We put in the same energy and hard work while working on the big screen and small but the difference is that big screen is much more relaxed[ way of working] and small screen requires long hours and speed along with quality.

I am fortunate to have worked with the best of production houses and many of my co-actors have become great friends [ one became my husband]. When we are on camera we forget everything and are just in the mood of the scene but when the camera is off we all are just like one family laughing and giggling. It is quite a warm industry I feel

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You recently ventured into YouTube.  Share your area of interest & how do you plan your videos

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

I continued to study even while working in the industry, so I became a certified Nutritionist and an Image consultant. I wanted to impart my knowledge to people but due to my social status it was a bit difficult as many people just wanted to pay to meet me. So this idea came to my mind that why not start a youtube channel and share your knowledge with people! Rest your viewers keep guiding you.

I was not very consistent initially but now I’m completely into it. And also a fitness freak so my videos are around beauty, fitness, and nutrition. I firmly believe that each and every woman/girl regardless of their age, shape, size, complexion, and budget have the full right to feel and look beautiful and that is where Image management comes into the scene. So all my videos are around these topics and not to forget that my ultimate aim is to Inspire! Inspire! and Inspire! All my videos are planned around this.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You also talked about your post-natal weight loss journey,  share the challenges of your weight loss journey and top 4 tips for someone targeting post-natal weight loss

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

Yes , my post-natal weight loss journey has been one big experience!! There were so many challenges first one being the C-section after which it is not easy to loose weight as it is a major surgery. Second being my age , I was 37 years old post delivery and third and the most difficult one was that my son was a colic baby[ colic babies have gas problem and they cry a lot for first 3 months] . But then my determination was bigger than these so I won. You are so busy with your baby inspite of having all the help that you cannot find time , so, you just have to make time!

My tips for those targeting post- natal weight loss

  1. Keep a real target and do not forget what was your weight before delivery. Aim for what is real
  2. Make fitness your aim, weight- loss is a by-product it will happen on its own if you keep your focus on fitness.
  3. Patience! You took 9 months to put on this weight so at least give 9 months to yourself to lose it.
  4. Consistency is more important than quantity. Working out for20- 30 mins daily will be more beneficial than working out for 1 hour one day and then giving a gap. Surprise your body with different exercises every day.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

 Do you follow any particular diet? What are your favourite protein sources in your diet? Your cheat day comprises of what 

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

 My fitness regime depends on my moods and time. But I do it consistently. I target different body parts every day, this does not tire your body and gives time for recovery. So I alternate between cardio and strength training, sometimes with weights and sometimes freehand. I also mix yoga [ specially suryanamaskars] as they are extremely beneficial in strengthening your core and giving you a flat tummy.

My next aim is to start cycling. Warm-up and cool down[ stretching]  are a must every day which I never miss even if I have less time for exercise. This prevents injury. My favorite abs exercises include planks, obliques, crunches, side bends with weights, and lower ab exercises. Do not forget to do ‘back extension’ daily, especially post-delivery.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You share a lot of makeup tutorials on your the channel, 5 favourite makeup and skincare brands that you swear by?

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

Being an Image Consultant I was trained in makeup too so I keep sharing these tutorials with always a reason behind what to apply and when. Brands I love are MAC, Maybelline, Kryolan, L’oreal, Clinique, and even Lotus at times. I keep mixing different brands. Bobby Brown I feel is not for Indian skin tones unless you have extremely flawless skin.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Having been in the industry for so long, what piece of advice would you like to share for upcoming and budding actors

Ms. Lataa Saberwal

Go for some formal training, keep upgrading yourself, be patient, do not take success for granted, and most important be honest to your work and yourself. It is very important to be a good human being along with being a good actor. Remember success and fame are here today gone tomorrow but the industry will not forget what type of a human being you are.

What upcoming projects are you looking at? Also different genres/opportunities you would love to explore in terms of acting

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

I feel I have done enough daily soaps . I would love to venture in web series , talk shows and do more of movies . Right now I am concentrating on my work and waiting for the vaccination to come.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

 Lastly, what according to you plays a pivotal role in being successful in life? The motivational quote you live by

Ms. Lataa Saberwal:

Success is subjective, do not compare your success with others but do get inspired and follow your dreams!”Whatever you do comes back to you” so choose what you want!
