Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Monica you have been the winner of pageant Miss India worldwide, and also Miss India USA, Walk us through your pageant journey and how did you decide to step into modelling

Ms. Monica Gill:

I had started doing pageants when I was about 15 years old. The first pageant I participated in was the Miss Massachusetts Teen USA pageant. Modeling happened simultaneously to that. After years of working with various organizations, I was asked to participate in the Worldwide organization. The first year I came 1st runner up, the 2nd year I won states, nationals, and worldwide. It goes to show how real ‘the power of never giving up’ is.

Ms. Monica Gill:

I loved working in Punjabi Cinema. I could speak the language fluently, which is why I think it worked out so well for me. My favorite project was ‘Yaara Ve’ which was released April 2019. It was based off of the partition and how it affected the common person.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

As a pageant winner how would you define “Beauty with a purpose”, also advice to girls aspiring to go in for beauty pageant

Ms. Monica Gill:

Beauty with a purpose means that you have a certain message that once amplified, using the pageant platform, can help other people within their own lives. Pageantry isn’t about what you look like. It’s about who you are as a person. On stage, it’s about the confidence and focus you bring with you, and off stage, it’s about the compassion and empathy that you have for others. As you grow in the sport, make sure you grow these aspects of yourself as well.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

As Women Fitness India talks about celebrity diets, do you follow any particular diet, Also your thoughts on size zero

Ms. Monica Gill:

I do not follow any diets and I’m strictly against the notion of ‘losing weight’.  Your food determines what you look like, how you feel, and how long you live. So be careful about what you eat. The idea is to be healthy, not a certain size. I honestly believe that being a size zero is very unhealthy. It is very important to accept your body, and love it as is. It will free you.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What fitness regime do you follow? How many times do you work out in the week & your favourite abs exercises

Ms. Monica Gill:

So I usually do not follow a strict fitness regime unless I’m shooting. However, before bed, I usually do a 3 min plank and 3 sets of 50 squats. Both exercises work the full body and relax my muscles.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What are your upcoming future projects and things you are looking forward to in 2021

Ms. Monica Gill:

Having been part of Cinema for over 6 years, I’ve learned not to make announcements. You’ll see things as they unfold.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Lastly, what message would you like to share with our readers on how important it is to be mentally and physically fit.

Ms. Monica Gill

Health is wealth, both mental and physical. Prioritise yourself and your needs. Once you are taken care of, only then you can care for others.
