Celebrity Coach Payal Gidwani Tiwari On Yoga & Diets!

Payal Gidwani Tiwari is one of the most famous fitness and yoga experts in Bollywood and the author of Body Goddess: The Complete Guide on Yoga for Women.

She answered a spiritual call by turning to yoga and soon became one of its leading experts, helping a clientele that includes Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Boney Kapoor, and the late actor Sridevi. Payal was appointed as the fitness expert for Pond’s Femina Miss India 2013 to train and guide the finalists in achieving the perfect body through yoga and distinguished fitness regimes. Payal won the Most Popular Book Award for Body Goddess at the Raymond Crossword Book Awards 2016-17.

Women Fitness team catches up with her about her journey, fitness, diet, in a candid conversation!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

You gave up your job as an interior designer to become a yoga expert. Please share the series of events that led to the same?

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

Interior designing is what I always wanted to do and yoga was chosen by the almighty. Man proposes and God disposes of that’s exactly what happened to me. I wanted to travel out of the country and thought yoga would be a good idea as I had my qualifications in place. So for a few months, I worked with a yoga company then left the country but again God had his plans I had to return back to India and after that, I had no looking back where my yoga journey began.

“Cosmic Fusion the Yoga Wellness Studio” is run by you and your husband Manish Tiwari? When & how did it happen. What goals were laid down for the same?

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

Cosmic fusion started in 2007 Manish and me were the only yoga couple then. We thought we needed to have a serene place where people can come and practice authentic yoga.

Define what Yoga means to Payal Tiwari at a personal level? How has it contributed to your health?

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

Yoga is a complete change in one’s life. Yoga should happen to everyone it changed my life 360 degrees from a girl who would keep all within I become a bold go-getter. I left things behind that would hinder my journey and walked the path chosen for me. Yoga is an experimental journey only once u get in will u understand so go for it.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

How challenging is it being a celebrity yoga teacher to Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan,  Rani Mukerji, Sridevi to name a few? 5 key essentials to keep in mind before designing a personal yoga program?

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

The journey with my celebrity clients were always challenging cause they had a goal in mind . So you have to work accordingly. They are highly disciplined and focused which automatically keeps u on toes . It’s great working with them as they remove the best out of u . When designing a yoga program u have to keep in mind the needs of the other person . Progression in terms of strength, endurance, flexibility. Right breathing techniques in terms of pranayama . Cleansing techniques Satkarmas . Mudras and Bandhas for meditation.

Share your personal fitness routine? How do you kick share your day?

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

I workout 5 days a week. Yoga , functional training and treadmill. My day starts with my yoga classes in the morning

Please provide us insight into your diet pattern? Foods you try to keep to minimum? You start your morning with…

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

I’m a bit of a foodie so sticking to a diet plan I kind of very tough. I eat in moderation all carbs, protein, and fat. A must for me is the egg whites I love them. M not a sweet lover but when I do eat I keep it in moderation. My day starts with Jeera + cinnamon +Dhania warm water.

5 yoga moves advisable for Pregnant Women?

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

Virbhadrasana / titiliasana / trikonasana/marjariasana / parvatasana.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Apart from being a renowned yoga expert, you have authored a bestselling book on fitness, From XL to XS. According to you, an ideal morning yoga practice for any person to start the day and boost immunity?  

Ms. Payal Gidwani Tiwari:

Start your day with warm water. Then kriyas (cleansing) breathing exercises (Pranayama), Surya Namaskar, some asanas, relaxation, and Om chanting.

Your personal skin & hair care routine?

Ms.Payal Gidwani Tiwari

For the skin I apply a pack made by my mother called divine glow. I use it as a scrub/pack. Also a day moisturizer and night cream are a must. I also use vitamin C oil. Hair I have to use a serum as I got very dry hair. Use hair oil once in a while.

There are quite a few but this one I will relate to as it did make me what I’m today. Saif and Kareena and I were travelling and sitting in the lounge when Saif said to me Payal why don’t u pen down a book there’s so much u can share and that’s when from XL toXS happened and till date, it is the best national seller over 1 lakh copies sold.
