Actress Ramya Pandian Unfolds the Secret Behind her Success

Ramya Pandian, daughter of former film director Durai Pandian, and niece of actor Arun Pandian, is a popular actor in Tamil-language films. After graduation, she started working as a Research and Development Analyst before being promoted as a Business Development Manager. She got the opportunity to work with Mani Ratnam’s assistant director, Shelley, on a short film titled Maane Theyne Ponmaane.

She was a contestant on the cooking show, Cooku with Comali, and a judge on the comedy television show, Kalakka Povathu Yaaru. She was the second runner-up in Cooku with Comali. In 2020, she had participated as a contestant in the fourth season of the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil. She was the only female finalist and emerged as the 3rd Runner-Up. She played the female lead in the web series Mugilan, which was released on ZEE5 in October 2020.

The latest movies in which Ramya Pandian has acted are Aan Devathai and Dummy Tappasu.

Namita Nayyar:

From achieving a degree in Biomedical Engineering to becoming a leading Tamil actress, how would you define your journey in a few words?

Ramya Pandian:

It was not a bed of roses. It was quite difficult. But, I am a very patient and positive person who doesn’t give up. 

I would say that it’s ‘my never-give-up attitude that’s helped me immensely, not only in this but in all phases of life.

Namita Nayyar:

You were a contestant in the fourth season of the reality show Bigg Boss Tamil & the only female finalist to emerge as the 3rd Runner-Up. It must have been an experience in itself. How did the experience contribute to your personality as an actor?

Ramya Pandian:

The Big Boss is an experience of a lifetime. No rehearsals. You have to be in the moment. The journey’s been wonderful. 

Having been surrounded by over a hundred cameras has taken away even a tinge of camera consciousness – it’s most certainly helped with being uninhibited as an actor.

Namita Nayyar:

Ramya, you swear by yoga to stay fit & fabulous? Share 5 asanas that are your personal favorite? Also the benefits you have personally observed over time?

Ramya Pandian:

 Yoga has helped me with flexibility and strength – when I’m talking about the strength I mean both physically and mentally. You’re more aware of what’s happening within yourself. You’re truly one with yourself. 

Moving with the breath is a significant element of yoga. 

Namita Nayyar:

In 2020, you have been listed as the ‘Most Desirable Woman On Television’. Congratulations! According to you what makes a person desirable? Tips to achieve success in one’s career?

Ramya Pandian:

According to me what makes a person desirable is the virtue of honesty – with themselves. Not only does it make a person desirable, but this trait also contributes to a person’s success too. When you’re true to yourself, you’re true to your thoughts, your actions, your ambitions, and the path that you choose.

Namita Nayyar:

Actresses follow a specific diet to look their best. Any specific diet or diet pattern you follow? 5 foods you keep to a minimum.

Ramya Pandian:

I have my dietician … she gives diet chart on regular intervals… to follow a balanced and nutritious diet 

Namita Nayyar:

Fitness routine do you stick by while traveling? 3 Mental health tips?

Ramya Pandian:

Whenever I’m traveling, I always carry my shoes and my yoga mat. You don’t necessarily need anything fancy with respect to equipment or facilities – you could practice yoga in your room or you could just go for a walk/jog for a minimum of half an hour to one hour. It’s about consistency in your routine.

3 Mental Health Tips by Ramya

  1. There’s a lot or pressure around us, it could be because of multiple reasons. So, it’s important to stay calm and level headed to better handle the way in which we approach things. 
  2. It’s important to have a circle of trust – it could be your friends or family – who you can open up to without the fear of being judged. 
  3. The most important factor is self-love. So, take time for yourself. It helps in staying positive and most importantly happy.

Skin & Haircare tips you follow to look your best?

Ramya Pandian:

Leave your skin to breathe. 

Remember moisturizer and sunscreen is a must. 

Haircare – well, I just use a shampoo and conditioner. That’s pretty much it. 

Namita Nayyar:

Ramya Pandian:

Spend time on yourself, introspect, and focus on yourself rather than others. Only then will you have clarity in setting goals for yourself and marching forward. 

I truly believe that thoughts are powerful. Your thoughts transform into actions. So, it’s important to channelize your thoughts.
