Ms. Namita Nayyar

Rupal, you describe “Yoga as a journey of absolute bliss that changed your life around three-sixty degrees”, share about your childhood and early experience with yoga and fitness.

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria

I started practicing yoga without any inhibitions following in the footsteps of my father. Mum actually got me to all the rehearsals and yoga practices for annual days. I was never great at academics but Yoga did a number on me. The first thing I thought of post graduating was that I want to be a therapist. A yoga Therapist. I loved what I studied and I loved even more what I experienced through the practice. It was both on and off the mat. From a little girl to a woman it’s been a journey of awareness of self through self.
Very motivating. It’s taught me to love myself and my life.

I’ve inculcated two attitudes through yoga and what my parents taught me:

1. Never let situations disturb you. I’m a learner and I should only learn from them and move ahead. Change is the only constant.
2. Never let a person disturb you too. Everyone comes from a situation

, it may sometimes be favorable to you and sometimes not. You can only control your reaction and your Karma.

This study of life changed my life around and I’m still following it as much as I can, Whilst enjoying everything I do, think and eat.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You are always searched on social media as the celebrity yogini and fitness influencer but how would you like to describe your work? And the part of your job that you enjoy the most

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria

I would like to be described as a YOGA THERAPIST FIRST. Then a Yoga teacher, then a yoga instructor, and then a fitness trainer. Being on Social media, and being a Celebrity trainer or fitness influencer are things that came in much later.
I am glad I became a part of the industry way before any of this was important. Earlier on, the focus was only on getting into result-oriented Yoga classes.
It doesn’t shift focus now, but everything you do is always analyzed and followed. One has the greater responsibility of what you put out there even in terms of how you conduct yourself as a yoga teacher or a celebrity. I want to be approachable and available to all in need and looking for answers. I run a school of yoga. It’s been the ultimate goal to certify yoga enthusiasts and become teachers. I’m living it and loving it 🙂 Anurag, Zoya, Saif, Bebo, or Reema!!!! they’re all such fun people and very dedicated. I love the fun we have on and off the mat. It’s a mediation in itself when you get people to focus and enjoy what you make them do. My work is result oriented always. Keeping in mind what the client’s goal is, I put my whole soul into every class that’s how I prefer it.

A student learns as we teach them. What we teach and how we teach is always learning. Whereas a client tells us what their end goal is so as to teach them what they require to learn. The best part of my job is to witness this journey of a client turning into a student:)
It’s a 360-degree change for me and a turnaround for my students too.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Being a celebrity fitness trainer, which celebrity client did you enjoy training the most? How do you plan your sessions considering their want for quick results and difficult schedules?

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria

I love all my clients. Celebrities are eventually humans and they all have their off-screen time and are the most dedicated and religious in their classes with me. I’m very blessed to have trained whoever I have so far. Be it Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali khan, Genelia Deshmukh, or even Kubbra Sait. My students and clients both have an understanding of practical timelines for long-lasting results. I have never been asked for shorter timelines and faster results. It helps build faith in me and my workout and the mind and body automatically sync that way. I do have a variety of workouts depending on how they are in a class that day. They could be highly energetic or some days tired. I usually have 2-3 workouts planned per session. I select as per their mood, energy levels, requirements, etc..

I include physiotherapy, Yoga therapy, Yoga strength, Yoga Flexibility, breathwork, and face yoga of it in each of my sessions. All this comes in through my brand of workouts called Rupal’sYogasthenics

Ms. Namita Nayyar

The fitness industry is also very congested at the moment what do you do to remain relevant and make your work stand out?

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria

In addition to this, as I said, it’s a greater responsibility now that social media has become a medium to get knowledge. Putting the right thing out there, at the right time keeping in mind that sometimes people could with the right intention to Fitness follow what we show mindlessly, I try to only put things out there that have fewer limitations and more benefits.

It is also important to recognize your failures and mistakes through your fitness journey. I try to put it out there as much as I can. Because no one is perfect and with the growing trends, there’s a lot of pressure to get it right the first go. That’s not practical. Showing reality is a must, That’s where again my attitude comes in. I try to be the best version of myself which is unfiltered. I try not to limit myself where it’s not required nor do I go overboard. Moderation is the key. I try to engage and am approachable to whoever needs help. When people meet me outside asking Hey you’re Rupal Sidhpura Faria, I engage and enjoy how people are following whatever I do on my page 🙂

It’s also about keeping up with the trends yet not forgetting your roots as a teacher. I run a school, authentic yoga is my thing I actually enjoy the best of both worlds. Both modern and traditional forms. It’s the best.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Women Fitness India talks about celebrity diets and fitness regimes, do you follow any particular diet routine? 5 diet myths you would like to burst?

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria

Yes, I definitely follow a particular food category, and I try to stick to certain guidelines always.
I have trained my mind and body during my Days as a student to follow a healthy food diet. I try to make foods from everything that’s available in the Indian kitchen. Indian foods have anything and everything that requires one to maintain a healthy diet.

Myths:

1. Ghee is not good enough for the body.
(How you use ghee and oil determine whether it’s good or bad, and the portion matters the most. If you fry something in oil and have no portion control, it is bound to be bad for your health)
2. A gluten-free diet is good for everyone.
3. All fruits and vegetables are great for health.
(People use imported fruits and vegetables when it’s not suitable to the season they’re staying in. One should try and stick to seasonal fruits and vegetables from where they’re staying at to benefit max from them and digest them better)
4. Low Carb means Grain free. (High fiber, unrefined carbs like whole grains are very helpful for many to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and effectively effects energy levels)
5. Juices are better than snacking on fruits.
(NO. YOU’RE THROWING AWAY THE FIBRE FROM YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLE GUYS!!!) EAT YOUR JUICES 🙂

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You mentioned that you specialize in prenatal yoga practice, share more insight on the same and how is it useful to expecting mothers

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria

Prenatal yoga is a practice that is not just when one gets pregnant. It’s also when one tried to conceive. through GARBHASANSKAR(Training the womb) It’s a guidance and practice to become the best version of ourselves through Yoga and Ayurveda.
I prepare a weekly guide for the student who wishes to conceive or is pregnant.

It includes
1. Aahar (Diet guidelines)
2. Vihar (Rest and Recreation)
3. Aachar (Conduct and routine)
4. Vichar (thoughts)
Pre and post-conception and post-delivery help with a smoother pregnancy and a better insight into the life of the child and mother and help adapt to the changes the mother goes through during this time as well. The benefits are innumerable

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

Social media can be a Boone or bane, how do you think it has changed the fitness industry? Also, how do you deal with negativity and trolling being a fitness influencer?

Ms. Rupal Sidhpura Faria:

I think it’s a bit of both. Today one is highly exposed on social media especially when you’re a celebrity or are associated with high-profile students. People think it’s their birthright to comment on anything and everything. They think they have the right to speak without knowing what the case can or would be. It’s a Boone too because a platform like that gives us exposure globally. It’s because of this platform that sometimes today one even de-stresses themselves after a hard day of work, watching the influencers dance it out or give a tip or two or even connect and collab. It’s a medium to earn love, respect, and money with its cons side by side.

It’s all about when you learn to limit yourself and learn to avoid what’s been said about you, while you put your life out there as a fitness influencer.
It’s a bane and a boone! You decide which one you’d wanna focus on and count your blessing 🙂
