Saiyami Kher On November Digital Cover!

saiyami kher

Saiyami Kher is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi and Telugu films. She made her acting debut with the Telugu film Rey and her Hindi film debut with Mirzya, for which she received the Stardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow – Female.

She opens up in a candid conversation with Women Fitness India as she graces our November Digital Cover on her journey so far, her love for acting, and fitness regimes!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Saiyami you are known as a multilingual star having worked in three different languages in the entertainment industry, tell us about your experience.

Ms. Saiyami Kher

I have worked in Hindi Marathi and Telugu films so far. Honestly, besides the language, there is no difference at all. Because the crew is from all over the world. As an actor, you do the same prep for any project. You need to make the script yours, become the character, and emote whatever language it may be. So I didn’t really find any difference at all. My Telugu film with Nagarjuna sir was so much fun because it was an action genre. Just getting to work with a legend like Nag sir was so exciting. My Marathi film Mauli was with Ritesh and he is actually more of a Hindi actor so I never felt any difference at all. I’m looking forward to working in different languages. More Telugu Marathi films and I love to do Malayalam and Tamil films!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Was being an actor a dream always, tell us about your journey of being an actor.

Ms. Saiyami Kher

No, it wasn’t like a childhood dream. I was always into sports as a child. And played professional badminton and cricket till I was 14/15. So I never really had the time for anything else. I started doing theatre when I was in college. Then studied in Xaviers and which has a rich theatre culture that’s when I was bitten by the acting bug. I really enjoyed theatre than did many theatre workshops and that’s how I fell in love with acting. I was also modeling during that time and started getting called in for ad and film auditions. That’s how it began. After many rejections, I finally signed Mirzya after many many auditions and I can’t imagine doing anything else!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You have been part of the OTT series that has managed to set an impact, do you feel OTT is the next big thing?

Ms. Saiyami Kher

Yes definitely. The OTT space has been churning out consistently good content. I’m glad I debuted digitally with Breathe, then choked and special ops. And I’m so glad the Audience gave all 3 projects so much love. The OTT space has given so many actors writers directors so many opportunities that it’s really a blessing to be working during this time.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Women Fitness India talks about celebrity diets and fitness routines, do you follow any special diet regime? What is your favorite cuisine?

Ms. Saiyami Kher

Well, I have always been into sports. So fitness and sport are my second nature. I cannot live without it. As far as the diet is concerned I eat everything but like to eat in moderation. Mostly a healthy home-cooked meal is what I like having. So vegetables, dal some chicken and bhakri is usually for lunch and dinner is like salad and fish. My weakness is chocolate. That’s something I wish I didn’t indulge in so often. Cuisine wise I enjoy Japanese food a lot.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

What comprises your fitness regime? Your thoughts on unrealistic body standards on social media, creating an influence

Ms. Saiyami Kher

I have never been a fan of unhealthy trends and size 0. What I feel is that the human body should be thin the body should be fit. I always talk about how fitness is what is most important. Don’t look at the weight scale. Eat moderately and exercise every day. My fitness regime gets compromised when I’m working long hours but even then I always find 20 mins to do dedicated exercise. Some exercise is always better than no exercise is what I believe.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Being on our digital cover of Women Fitness India, you are an inspiration for our readers, how would you define fitness for our readers?

Ms.Saiyami Kher

Fitness is a celebration of what our body can do not a punishment for what you ate last night. I read this somewhere and completely believe this. We only talk about weight loss but we need to talk about how our body is capable of doing so much if we are consistent. The key to being fit is being consistent. Our body really can achieve what our mind sets out to do. So set a goal and back yourself to reach it!

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

Lastly, how do manage mental wellness along with physical fitness? Do you feel it’s still an ignored topic in the country?

Ms. Saiyami Kher

I have always said that fitness is not only physical but also mental. Sports and exercise are my go-to when I’m down and out. It’s scientifically proven that exercise releases happy hormones. Running is something I do to clear my head. I’m glad we have started discussing mental health and people no longer feel awkward discussing it. The more we make it normal it will be it that much easier to deal with it and help people who are suffering.
