In her interview with Women Fitness India, Savitu Singh shares how her journey with face yoga began at the age of 35, when she first noticed early signs of aging, such as fine lines, crow’s feet, and dull, tired-looking skin. These changes affected her confidence deeply and led her to explore everything from dermatological treatments to expensive skincare. However, the results were temporary. It was only when she discovered face yoga through social media and began practicing consistently that she experienced a natural transformation.
Within months, her skin appeared brighter, her lines softened, and her facial features became more toned and defined. This personal breakthrough made her realize that face yoga could be more than a beauty trend—it could be a holistic and non-invasive way to rejuvenate the face.
For Savitu, beauty begins with health. She prefers the idea of a “healthy face” rather than simply a “beautiful face,” explaining that true radiance comes from good muscle tone, balanced circulation, and relaxed facial tension. Through regular facial exercises and lymphatic drainage, toxins and excess fluid are gently released, helping reduce puffiness and congestion. When the face functions well internally, outward beauty naturally follows.
She explains that while skincare has its place, it mainly works on the surface of the skin. Face yoga, however, works at a deeper level by strengthening the facial muscles that support the skin. These muscles form the foundation of facial structure. When activated through targeted movements, blood circulation improves, and nutrients are delivered more efficiently to skin cells. This process supports collagen and elastin production, reduces sagging, and helps restore natural facial volume, creating longer-lasting results compared to cosmetic solutions alone.
Savitu notes that many facial muscles are underused in daily life, especially those in the cheeks, jaw, and around the eyes and forehead. These areas are often either inactive or held in chronic tension. Over time, this imbalance contributes to sagging, puffiness, fine lines, and a tired appearance. Regular facial exercise helps improve tone and circulation while restoring balance, allowing the face to look naturally lifted, relaxed, and healthier overall.
Modern lifestyle habits have also created new facial concerns. Jaw clenching, prolonged screen time, and stress commonly lead to tension, frown lines, and what is now known as “tech neck.” Savitu recommends simple but consistent practices to address these issues.
Open-mouth release exercises help relax the jaw, forehead smoothing movements calm overactive brow muscles, and neck lifts and stretches strengthen and tone the neck area. She emphasizes that visible results can appear within a month with daily practice. Structured facial workout sessions, similar to bodybuilding routines, further support consistency and outcomes by focusing on specific concerns and sometimes incorporating tools such as gua sha, collagen rollers, and LED therapy.
Nutrition, she adds, plays an equally important role in maintaining facial health. Savitu encourages a diet rich in collagen-supporting foods such as lentils, chickpeas, beans, leafy greens, eggs, fish, nuts, and seeds. Vitamin-C-rich fruits like berries, citrus fruits, kiwi, guava, papaya, bell peppers, and amla are essential for collagen production. Adequate protein from paneer, tofu, yogurt, lentils, and lean meats supports muscle tone, while hydration through water, green tea, coconut water, and herbal teas keeps the skin functioning optimally.
In her conversation, she highlights the importance of lifestyle habits. Gentle skincare application, avoiding rubbing the eyes, maintaining good posture, managing stress, and practicing face yoga three to four times a week all contribute to visible improvement. According to Savitu, consistency is the most powerful beauty tool.
Addressing common misconceptions, Savitu explains that randomly copying exercises from short online videos is not enough for lasting results. While such clips can be useful for beginners, guided practice offers greater benefits. A trained instructor understands how to combine movements correctly, activate lymphatic drainage safely, and release tension in the neck and shoulders before working on the face. This structured variation keeps facial muscles responsive and prevents stagnation.
Her message to women struggling with unrealistic beauty standards is clear and compassionate. She urges them not to compare themselves with others but to embrace their individuality. Social media, she reminds us, is often filtered and edited, presenting an illusion rather than reality. True beauty, she believes, lies in self-acceptance and self-care.
By choosing natural methods and focusing on becoming a better version of oneself each day, confidence grows organically. When women honor their natural features instead of chasing artificial ideals, happiness and authenticity follow.
