Ms. Namita Nayyar

Sayantani you have been in the industry for over 2 decades, tell us how has your journey been and when was the moment that you realized you wanted to be an actor?

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh

Yes, I have been in Mumbai for 16 years, and the journey has been a roller-coaster ride with lots of ups and downs just how life is, Mumbai accepted a Bengali girl, and ever since then, this has been my home as much as Kolkata is.

Also, I never wanted to be an actor initially I came from a middle-class family but since there was always an inclination towards arts and culture like music and dancing I wanted to explore this side of mine, and eventually I won a completion in my school days which eventually led me to get modeling offers, and I went ahead to act in Bengali Films, one thing lead to another and then eventually I came to Mumbai, so it has been a dreamy journey obviously there have been downs as well, but even today when I look back I always wanted to be an actor and nothing else, although I was good in academics and thought of being a doctor or engineer I realized that acting was my true calling.

So yes it’s been a great journey where I’ve got to play a different role. It’s I’ve got a lot of love from the audience. The industry has been welcoming to me and the journey still continues, I still have a lot of different stuff that I want to achieve. So far, so good, and it’s been very gratifying.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Besides fiction, you have also been part of reality shows including Bigg Boss 6, do you like reality shows over fiction? Also, do you plan to do any more in the future?

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh

Yes. I’ve been a part of a couple of reality shows like Bigg Boss season 6 I’ve done Comedy Circus also Comedy Nights with Kapil and dare to dance so a couple of them. So I think fiction and nonfiction, both have strengths they all have their own individual charm.

In nonfiction, it’s that you get to be your real self and also its short term generally besides fiction has its own charm as you get to play different characters.

So I really don’t want to say that I choose one over the other, as far as I’m working, I’m happy in whichever genre I’m working in.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Women Fitness India talks about celebrity diets and fitness regimes, do you follow any special diets? Being a Bengali which is your favorite bong dish

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh

Honestly, I don’t follow any special diet. And to be very honest, the past year of my life has been very poor when it comes to following our healthy diet. But what I used to do some time back and what I would want to get back to is following a more wholesome meal. I don’t believe, in fad diets, but having a more balanced meal and something that’s more sustainable, So I want to do something which is more of a lifestyle choice, rather than just doing because this diet is in Trend. So that’s how it is wholesome, balanced meal is what I always used to have, and I want to get back to. And when it comes to Bengali Cuisine, I like a lot of stuff, I love mishit doey

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You share a lot of your workouts on your social media, do you prefer weight training over functional workouts? How are you managing your workouts in the pandemic times

Ms.Sayantani Ghosh

So prior to the covid hit, I was really regular with my workouts but since 2020 and 2021 I haven’t been that regular with it, obviously, during the first wave we all were home after such a long time and indulging in a little bit of workout, so did I but this year I plan to be more regular and in sync with my workout routine. And like I said for the diet but I don’t believe in fancy workout routines, I plan in a way that it makes me look good on the outside as well as my inside too!

So I include Zumba, weight training, and jogging so that it helps in my overall fitness be it cardio or my cardiac health. Also, yoga for better flexibility helps and to basically have a routine that I can do follow forever in my life basically.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Besides physical fitness, mental wellbeing is also very important how do you keep up with that?

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh

Definitely, mental wellbeing is as important as physical, and especially during these pandemic times or the times we are living in its becoming more and more important,

I myself go through a lot of anxiety, I am a very anxious person but during these times I tried to spend a lot of time with my family which helped me cope with that, and also with my husband it gave me a feeling of security that there is always someone there for me.

So that is what I would like to suggest that spend time with your loved ones and now there is obviously professional help also available so one can go for that as well.

The idea is to put your mind elsewhere into things that you like doing. And of course, in the end, I always count the good things in my life. I try and practice gratitude a lot because while we might have a lot of things lacking you also have a lot of things that God has given you to be grateful about.

I always try and feel grateful and count the good things in my life, and obviously, there are days that even it doesn’t work for me, and it’s ok! All of this is a process and it will eventually work.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Social media is both a bone and bane, how do you deal with negativity and trolling

Ms.Sayantani Ghosh

So yes, social media does have its advantages and disadvantages, for me, social media is like a virtual diary, Of course, it has a promotional aspect where I promote my shows and use it as a professional tool, I also share insights from my daily life where I show pictures and videos of my day to day happenings.

So that my audience knows what is the difference between reel and real life. Coming to trolls and negativity, there have been times when I was body-shamed, and I spoke about that. So I do try to block them and report them because most of the time these trollers are just trying to grab attention and I do not want to provide them limelight so I do ignore them most of the time but when it’s necessary id o speak up!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Your insta bio reads “ I love me”, do you indulge in self-love, message for our readers on the same?

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh

Yes, I truly stand by self-love as my insta bio reads because I genuinely feel that if I am incapable of loving myself, how can I love others, and again it is a process there might be days that you feel you are not good enough or don’t look the best but it is important that even on such days to love oneself also, during these stressful times it’s very important to be kind to oneself, and if you ever feel that you need to work on a certain aspect about yourself then do it for your own good, not to satisfy someone else.

Besides that, I would like to give the message that even the most beautiful and successful people do have some shortcomings so never compare yourself to someone else rather try to love yourself!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Lastly with Valentine’s Day approaching, how do you plan to celebrate it this year?

Ms. Sayantani Ghosh

It’ll be special because it’s my first one post my wedding, but not only just that day, the whole period. Now that my show is wrapping up, I’m going to be looking forward to spending some quality time with my husband.

Moreover, the kind of person I am, I think love should be celebrated each day and throughout the year, however since it has been since this for many years that Valentine’s day is considered to be “The Day”, we are planning to take a short getaway and spend some quality time together!
