Ms. Shamita Shetty

It feels great to be back on board. Health and fitness have been an integral part of my life, It’s my personality. I function better physically, mentally, and even emotionally because I am conscious about what I put into my body in terms of the food I eat. Reality shows, and music videos what has 2022 been for you like? Your favorite memory from the year?

Ms. Shamita Shetty

It’s been a wonderful year. There were lots of ups and downs. I’ve discovered a lot more about myself this year. It has definitely made me a stronger person and as a whole, I think it’s been a wonderful year for me mentally, emotionally, and work-wise as well.

My favorite memory from the year would be my takeaway from Bigg Boss, the reality show that I was a part of. I received immense love and support from people and they accepted me for the person I am. This love and acceptance were overwhelming, gratifying, and just a beautiful feeling. It’s a memory that I will always cherish.

Women Fitness India talks about diets and fitness regimes. What are your diet rituals now? Your all-time favorite cheat meal?

Ms. Shamita Shetty

I’m trying something very new. For the first time in my life, I’m weighing my food and eating it. I have new trainers on board and they are keeping a closer watch on my daily calorie intake and how much protein, carbs, and fats I’m putting into my body. This is something I’ve never done before.

I’ve always followed a healthy diet before, but keeping a check on my daily calorie intake is something I’m doing that’s very new. I have always followed a gluten and dairy-free diet. Having said that, I know a lot of people do not. I’ve kind of said this so many times that although I follow a gluten and lactose-free diet, I do introduce them into my system at least once a week or once in ten days. This makes my body not completely intolerant to these two things.

As for my all-time favorite cheat meal, I like thin-crust pizza. If it’s gluten-free then great otherwise, it’s the pizza. Once a week I cheat on my meals and I do it with whole wheat. I like my pizza to a thin crust. I don’t like the thick-crust ones. Another cheat meal I can think of is something in dark chocolate, like a dark chocolate pastry. The pastry, however, I keep gluten-free. These are my favorite cheat meals and I am allowed to cheat once a week.

Fitness plays a very important role in your life. What is one of the biggest learnings you have learned during your fitness journey?

Ms. Shamita Shetty

There’s so much that you discover over the years and fitness has been a part of my life for over 20 years now. Rather, I give it that importance in my life. As I mentioned, I feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally and this balance makes it important. I know how I feel when I don’t work out for a few days, physically, it’s not a great feeling. I feel lethargic, my energy levels are low, and emotionally I don’t feel great either. Endorphins and serotonin are important for the system. There are lots of dos and don’ts. Over the years I’ve learned what works for me. It won’t necessarily work for another person because we’re all made differently physically as well as mentally.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

What are all plans and projects you are looking at in 2023? Message for your fans?

Ms. Shamita Shetty

I have a movie releasing, The Tenant, this year. I’m currently looking forward to that.

Other than that, let’s see what life has in store for me. I don’t make too many plans. I just let things unfold at the right time. That’s just the way my life has been. It’s always been unpredictable and I like to accept it the way it is.

A message I would like to give to my fans is to let go. Trust in the universe. Trust that everything that’s happening at this moment is for the best. You may not understand it now, but in time you will. Have faith and stay positive. Also love a little, because God knows the world needs a lot of it.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Being in the industry for more than a decade, what has played a pivotal role in your journey? Piece of advice for upcoming actors

Ms. Shamita Shetty

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in the industry, but for me, my lows have been very, very important to me. They’ve taught me a lot about the person I am. They helped me discover my own strength and I really cherish all of the experiences I’ve had out here. The Good, the bad, the ugly, whatever it is, I would never exchange those experiences for anything because it’s made me the person I am today. They’ve also kept me grounded and understand life a lot better.

A piece of advice I would want the newcomers to have is to be very clear about their goals and stay strong. You can prepare yourself with your acting skills, dancing skills, and all of that, but you have to know it’s not an easy industry to be a part of. With the ups and downs that come with fame and money, you have to make sure that you’re mentally and emotionally strong and have a good support system. Make sure you’re clear about your goal and be focused because hard work goes a long way.

Another piece of advice I would maybe give people joining the industry is to have something else that you can do on the side, like a second business because this is a very unpredictable industry to be a part of. So, I would say have something else happening on the side as a backup.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Lastly, with a huge following on social media of 4.3m+, what is the worst and best part according to you about social media?

Ms. Shamita Shetty:

In my view, through your social media, you get to connect with the people that love you. A lot of love comes your way, but unfortunately, a lot of unnecessary hate or judgment as well sometimes. I think you have to learn to balance things out and be strong. You should believe in the person you are. Don’t let those things affect you. Initially, it affected me as well, but I’ve reached a stage in my life where none of it really affects me any more.

Social media has honestly become an addiction now, which is terrible.

I miss those times when there was no Instagram and Twitter and just the simple Facebook. I loved that time. However, there’s also a lot you get to learn and see-through social media as well these days so it’s not all bad.
