Namita Nayyar:

You started your career with modeling and did a few reality shows and today you are a youth sensation with multiple fan clubs over social media, tell us how the journey has been for you and also what your plans are

Divya Agarwal:

It has been a marvelous journey so far and I feel blessed to be growing every single day on this path that I have chosen for myself.

I started my career with modeling with a vision to prove myself further in acting keeping Sushmita Sen, Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai & many inspirational icons in mind who also carved their way into the film industry from modeling.

As much as I enjoyed walking the ramps, I wanted something more to myself. So I started taking up projects like short films and songs which brought both popularity and people’s judgments. I only grew with that criticism, to be honest.

Cut to today, I have fans, I am recognized and that makes me feel special. I am here because of my fans and I couldn’t thank them enough for being through all the thick and thin in my journey.

Namita Nayyar:

Many people feel that reality shows are scripted, you have been part of two reality shows, what is your take on the same? Also, would you prefer reality shows over fiction drama?

Divya Agarwal

Reality shows are a different league altogether. I never explored that arena, to be honest, and I had only heard of Splitsvilla when I was struggling. I thought why not give it a shot? And hallelujah, it is not scripted, in comparison to what people think.

Reality shows are nothing but a bunch of stories that an individual brings along. Be it weird, ugly, good, bad, childhood trauma, or taboo topics —- we discuss. And audience enjoys it because they can relate to your personal stories. The entire production behind these reality shows banks on such stories.

I wanted people to know me by my name and I was totally myself in all those reality shows. I think I somewhere had my career graph planned in my head. I thoroughly enjoyed that stint. Later I picked up fictional characters and did Ragini MMS, a web series, which was a different vibe altogether.

Namita Nayyar:

What excites you most about acting & drama? Your favorite series.

Divya Agarwal:

I’ve been binging on a lot of content and the pandemic definitely gave me plenty of time to explore the different OTT platforms. I’ve also been reviewing a lot of web series on my social media.

I enjoyed Sushmita Sen’s Aarya, Avrodh, too I liked. Talking about International shows, I’m a huge Schitt’s Creek fan. That series just refreshes and helps me unwind from all day’s work.

Namita Nayyar:

You recently started your YouTube channel, which is loved by your fans and viewers. Share your plan for video content drafting. According to you what impresses your followers the most

Divya Agarwal:

I always wanted to start my own YouTube channel because I love content ideation. Even though I wanted it to be a solo stint, Varun and I decided to do it together so that both our fans could learn and grow with us.

We mostly go with what our fans want from us, what the trends are on social media – and the plan generates from there. I sit with a storyboard and think of many things like script, venue, costume, choreography if needed, aesthetics, and much more.

As actors, we don’t have the opportunity to work with our partners all the time but through our YouTube platform, our fans also wanted to see us a couple more. We have planned quite a few things for the channel but the only drawback is time. We don’t want to publish anything casual. It has to be shot well. So we just wait for the perfect opportunity to shoot things.

Namita Nayyar:

You have a huge following of 2 million on your Instagram, Share tips on how to grow one’s social media

Divya Agarwal:

Social media doesn’t come with a rule book, at least not in the day and age that we are in. I’m not an expert either. Social media today allows an individual to grow both personally and financially. One has the power to contribute to society and bring change.

My only motive through my social media is to bring a change, and influence people to discuss taboos. My biggest tip for people on social media is — just be yourself. And for the audience, well, wisely choose who to follow on social media. Analyze what content is helping you. And, lastly, support each other.

Namita Nayyar:

Women Fitness talks about health and fitness, so do you follow any particular diet, what are your favorite protein foods

Divya Agarwal:

I’m a Punjabi, and that automatically makes me a big foodie. I’m a huge ‘Ghar Ka Khaana’ lover. But with my profession, one has to maintain a diet and I follow that as and when a project demands. But otherwise, YOLO! And I only live for food.

I don’t believe in skipping my meals. From salads to Chole Bhature, I balance my meals. Above this is my workout – which could be either a home workout, gym, Zumba, yoga, or dancing. For me, fitness matters, and I believe in eating everything & burning it out.

I’ve recently also started learning kickboxing.

Namita Nayyar:

You mentioned that during your previous project “Ragini Mms”, you were on a very strict diet. Tell us how you managed your cravings back then

Divya Agarwal:

Ragini MMS was a difficult yet enjoyable journey. My first big acting project and that idea gave me a lot of anxiety and stress back then. I had to go through an intense diet for the role.

And was eating fruits and vegetables. Had to cut down on all my sweet cravings. Carbs were completely off my plate. And oh my chai, I used stevia instead of sugar. These changes definitely made a lot of difference and I was happy with the end result.

And the day Ragini was released, I ate everything. Haha.

Namita Nayyar:

Share your favorite Workout type.

Divya Agarwal:

My first love is dancing and new found love is kickboxing. And anything that comes between this is thoroughly enjoyed. Dancing is the best cardio one can have.

I don’t like keeping the same routine in my workout and hence it is a mix of everything as I mentioned above. From walks to Yoga, it is refreshing to work out.

Namita Nayyar:

You recently slammed a user over periods trolling, do you feel that talking about menstruation is still a taboo in India?

Divya Agarwal:

I had no idea that this topic was taboo because in my family we openly discussed it. But in school, teachers didn’t appreciate girls talking openly about this. It starts at the grass-root level. Things need to be changed and that can only happen when you teach a child while he is growing up.

Namita Nayyar:

Lastly, you receive a lot of love over social media, how to keep mentally and physically fit?

Divya Agarwal:

I believe one can control everything one wants. This pandemic has made us stronger and more compassionate in more ways than one. With bad news coming each day, one could feel toxic but only you can control how you take in the negativity.

Control your screen time. Watch good and positive content, and don’t be a keypad warrior (a troll). Yes, there will be days when you are low but distract yourself with activities you enjoy.

Keep yourself busy with activities you enjoy and this will automatically keep you sane and positive.

Namita Nayyar:

What is your message for fans and viewers?

Divya Agarwal:

Be original. Help people around you. These are difficult times and one should only value humanity.
