Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

Like everyone, I’ve gone through my fair share of ups and downs, and every project and in-between projects, have been a fabulous learning opportunity. This part of my journey has been tremendously fulfilling. I still feel the same anxiety before a start a new project, it feels like my first film and I’m always eager to do things differently, do different things and add skills to myself. Ms. Namita Nayyar

Kajal you have been part of both south and Bollywood film industry, there have been recently a lot of comparisons in the industry, tell us your experience working in both and your thoughts on the comparison

Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

I started my career in the southern film industry and Telugu/ Tamil are like home to me. It feels like natural habitat when you’ve adopted the culture and treasured it so close to your heart. My main growing up and impressionable years were spent learning the languages, people, characteristics, cultures, traditions, etc. So that’s left an indelible mark on my mind forever.
Hindi, on the other hand, is my mother tongue, I was born and raised in Mumbai, and Hindi films, I have grown up watching.
I’ve always felt language has never been a barrier in acting and one can express varied emotions despite the language or even no language!
I feel both industries are very professional and in recent times, the industries blend seamlessly, sharing technicians, artists, and creativity. It’s a great place to be in, right now.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

You recently embraced motherhood, tell us how has your life changed after being a Mom, and also how you manage your work with the kid.

Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

Yes! It is indeed the most exciting, exhilarating, and challenging time of my life. I want to impart the best of everything to my baby. Ensure he has the right kind of grounding, values, and morals along with exposure and a great education. We as parents should make sure we gift our children a strong foundation, nurturing, love and care. What they eventually do is then upon them!
My baby is only 2 months old so I’m still tip-toeing on the whole motherhood journey. I’m trying my best to balance work with my little one. I will start filming full-fledged from august onwards and I intend on taking my baby and help and of course, my mum with me wherever I travel to shoot. With the whole wave of covid once again, we are being cautious right now as he’s too young and we don’t want him to contract any sickness before his inoculation.

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Women Fitness India talks about celebrity diets and fitness regimes, do you follow any particular diet? One delicacy that you really miss when on diets

Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

I follow a balanced diet as I’m nursing at this time of my life.
I have never been a fad diet person. I believe in balance and moderation for everything. Looking after my health and well-being has always been a priority to me and my profession adds to my desire to stay consistent and better. I usually eat a healthy meal comprising of carbohydrates, protein, fat, and fiber with a few moderations depending on my workout routine

Ms. Namita Nayyar

What comprises your fitness regime? Being an actress how did you manage your weight postnatal?

Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

I usually balance between weight training and cardio. Through the lockdown, I did a lot of virtual sessions of Mat Pilates, HIIT, and functional training.
I did a lot of prenatal yoga, Pilates, and barre which helped me in my baby’s delivery.
At the moment, I’m focusing on regaining my strength and endurance which is very difficult after a whole year of slowing down. I’m doing yoga and physique barre workouts to rebuild from the inside and loving it. I swear by this and recommend it to all recovering moms as well as expecting mums!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

Social media comes with its own pros and cons, how do you deal with negative trolling and backlash?

Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

Well, we are a generation addicted to social media. I try my best to stay away, take periodic detox, and use it for my convenience rather than the other way around. There is no denying that it’s a great way to directly connect with the audience and it’s fabulous when used for its pros rather than indulging in cons.
Trolls and negativity, one just has to learn the art of ignoring.

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

Being the cover girl for Women Fitness India you are an inspiration to our readers who wish to enter the industry, your piece of advice and your take from working in the glamour industry

Ms. Kajal Aggarwal

My biggest piece of advice is, that one has to have tremendous conviction, patience, grit determination, and capacity for an insane amount of hard work but having said that, one must also be smart and always have a backup plan. Completing one’s education is an absolute must.
This industry is a balance of luck, capitalizing on opportunity, and constantly proving yourself with hard work.

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

Lastly your upcoming projects and plans for the year?

Ms.Kajal Aggarwal

I have a slew of films waiting for release. I’m Hindi, and my film Uma will be released soon. In Tamil, Ghosty. I have signed a slate of new films which will be going on floors from August / September. I am really excited to get back to filming, I’ve missed it and I’m also slightly nervous, the tingling feeling like it’s my first!
