Mother’s Day Edit: Featuring Juhi Parmar & Daljeet Kaur!

mother's day

I’m not sure there is another word that can simultaneously hold as much complexity, diversity, joy, and pain as the word “mother.” On this Mother’s Day, each of us might have a different relationship with the word. Some of our mothers may have passed, some may be close and some may be far—emotionally or physically. Some of us might be mothers, some of us still longing to be one or somewhere in between.

This Mother’s Day Women Fitness India gets in a candid chat with Juhi Parmar and Daljeet Kaur on experiencing ups and downs during motherhood, managing being a single mother, and more!

Ms. Namita Nayyar

How being a mother did change your life emotionally and what were your shortcoming during pregnancy?

Ms. Juhi Parmar

Well, being a mother has definitely made me more patient, and of course, you become more aware, and all decisions you make are while keeping your child in mind be it travel or work schedules. I feel very fortunate to have experienced motherhood and to have such a loving child.

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Best memories that you have created with your daughter to date? Favorite activity to do together?

Ms. Juhi Parmar

We definitely have built some amazing memories and to name one would be really difficult but a recent one would be when I and Samiara went to Dubai, only the two of us, I also posted a lot of videos from the trip on my YouTube channel my Dubai vlogs

, there are times when she tells me she wants to rewatch those videos, I literally felt like a child and had a hell lot of fun on our trip to Dubai. Also, our favorite activity together is singing and traveling we love to travel together!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

Where there any apprehensions about being a single mother? Your advice to girls you stay in toxic marriages to avoid being a single parent

Ms. Juhi Parmar

When I was about to end my marriage, the only thought I had in mind to be independent and give my child a happy future, I always think that a child cannot have a normal childhood, if the mother or parents are not happy, so for me, the criteria were not that how will I take care of my child alone or what will the society think my thought was to give my child a happy environment and it’s better to see a happy single mother rather than a sad marriage.

Also, my advice would be firstly all mothers should be economically independent because then you would be able to take care of your child, also being in toxic marriages you tend to lose yourself and that’s when it hits you, so my advice is to become independent and thinks about your happiness and your child’s too!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

How do you plan to spend Mother’s day 2022 with your daughter?

Ms. Juhi Parmar:

We are still thinking about what to do, but will definitely spend time together along with my mother too and make this Mother’s day special!

Daljeet Kaur and Jaydon Exclsuive Chat!

Ms. Namita Nayyar:

What has been the toughest point in your journey with your kid? How did manage to pass through it?

Ms.Daljeet Kaur:

For me, the toughest part was not giving enough time to my child, and hence “guilt”, since I had to work because I had no money, and this led to me not giving enough time to my child especially when he was sick but eventually I realized that I need to overcome the guilt because I was working to give him a better future and build our home

Ms.Namita Nayyar

How did you manage your post-pregnancy weight loss? Your thoughts on postpartum depression?

Ms. Daljeet Kaur:

I gained more weight after giving birth to Jaydon, I went through a drastic weight loss from 84 kgs to 54 kgs in 6 months which was tough due to muscle loss but I suggest women plan it accordingly post they finish breastfeeding their child, I had to do a crash course since I had to go back to my acting schedule but mothers can easily plan it and do accordingly and not stress about it.

Postpartum depression is real, I remember going through it, I used to sit on one side of the bed, used to just feed my baby and sit there, and I lost the zeal to do anything new. Therefore I suggest all the readers if you see any new mom, father or anyone lacking the zeal and energy to do something do talk to them because this might be a sign of depression, and it’s very common in new moms since they fear losing their body and energy after the child, but with talking about it with your loved ones you can overcome it.

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

Many young women do not want to have a child as they worry about it hampering their career your thoughts on the same?

Ms.Daljeet Kaur:

I honestly understand that women can be insecure about their career, but for a mother being financially sound is also very important and hence I would suggest keeping 24 hours of help so that you can coordinate with it to manage and focus on your career as well.

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

How do you manage to spend time with your kid along with your work life?

Ms.Daljeet Kaur:

I have finally learned the art of time management now thanks to online teaching, thankfully I made up for all those years when I had to leave him and go, moreover I think he understands it as well and I do not feel guilty anymore even when I have to go for work leaving him.

Ms.Namita Nayyar:

How do you plan to spend Mother’s day 2022 with your son?

Ms.Daljeet Kaur:

Haha, I don’t really do as such on the day. Maybe just buy myself a rose that day and might be when Jaydon grows up he will buy me one.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the mothers a happy mother’s day, and my message to all the fathers or family members would be to support the mothers.

Although women do not need anyone in life they are very strong on their own sometimes a little support causes no harm either!
