Why the timing is important?
An old theory suggests that half of the time you feel hungry when you are actually thirsty. So, drinking water 30 minutes before the meal will prevent you from overeating.
Based on the previous theory a study was published in the journal Obesity, where a group of obese people participated. In this study, a group of obese people was asked to drink 500 ml of water 30 minutes before their main meals. Another group was asked to imagine they had a full stomach.
Apart from this, the entire group followed the same diet and exercise routine for about 12 weeks. At the end of the study, it was found that people who drank water before their meal lost about 1.5 kilos more weight than those who hadn’t.
