Noodles being mainly carbohydrates, do not produce many calories. It is the oil which goes into it while preparing the dish, that adds on to the calories.
Ingredients
- 100 gms chow noodles (coiled noodles in packets)
- 1 onion – shredded (cut into thin long strips)
- 1 capsicum - shredded (cut into thin long strips)
- 1 cup shredded cabbage (cut into thin long strips)
- 1 carrot – shredded or grated thickly
- ½ tsp ajinomoto – optional
- ½ tsp sugar, 1 tsp pepper, ¾ tsp salt
- 2 tsp soya sauce
- ½ tsp cornflour
- 1 ybsp vinegar
- 1½ tsp chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp oil
- 6-8 flakes garlic – chopped & crushed
Instructions
- To boil noodles, keep 6 cups water with 1 tsp salt in a large pan, on fire. When the water boils, add the noodles. Stir with a fork. Cook uncovered on medium flame for 3 minutes only. Remove from fire. Strain.
- Wash boiled noodles with cold water, straining each time. When the noodles turn cold, leave them in the strainer for at least 15-20 minutes. Turn them upside down once, after about 10 minutes, to ensure complete drying. Keep aside.
- Heat oil. Add onions. Stir fry for ½ minute.
- Stir fry carrots and capsicum for ½ minute. Add cabbage.
- Add sugar, salt, pepper & ajinomoto. Mix well.
- Add boiled noodles. Add vinegar & chilli sauce.
- Mix cornflour with soya sauce. Add to the noodles. Stir fry for 1 minute. Add more soya sauce for a darker colour.
- Serve with chopped green chillies in vinegar.
