With the rising number of Covid cases in our country, choosing to eat out is still an extremely risky thing. There is really a lot more risk of getting infected now than ever before.
However, if you really have to go out and eat during Covid, here are some points that you can keep in mind while doing so.
First of all, there is just not enough mention of the fact that social distancing is a must. It should be a rule, not just by the restaurant employees and owners but by you yourself too. We are as responsible citizens just as much responsible for our safety and health as other authorities are. So, please keep your distance. Don’t get close to people even if you are wearing your masks. It’s a strict no to mingle closely with people, even with your closest friends.
Second, do keep wearing your mask even while visiting a restaurant. Wearing a face shield on top of your mask is a great way to ensure safety. Since, you will be required to remove your mask while eating your food, it’s recommended to wear the shield as that will serve as a protection shield while consuming the food.
Do sanitize the table and chair before getting seated. Sanitize your hands and carry your own water bottles to consume water or any other drinks for you and kids. Just ensure safety at each and every step.
While ordering food, your best bet is to order food from the menu that’s fully cooked. Avoid ordering food that is raw such as salads, fruit platters, etc.
If there are any foods that get made much prior to consumption and are handled manually with hands such as bread rolls and bread sticks, papads etc. don’t consume or order those.
Stick to ordering foods which are served straight after being cooked in the oven or stove. Food that gets to your plate warm and sizzling should be your choice during these times.
Make sure to ask the restaurant or hotel for their Covid control measures which they have applied in their ambiance. If you think that their efforts are up to date, and then only make a reservation.
Ask them well in advance that you will carry your own water bottle or other drinks to avoid any misunderstandings later on.
Do wash your hands and face after returning home thoroughly with soap and water.
Do take your Vitamin C, Zinc supplements if you haven’t already started having those. And make sure your vitamin D levels are not dipping due to less sunlight exposure these days.
If taking all these precautions when deciding to eat out during covid , seems too much to you, best is to stay home and maybe order some food to be delivered to you. Much less hassle and more relaxed experience.
