A sponge cake has no fat in it. Served with a chocolate custard prepared with skimmed milk makes it a low calorie dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 egg chocolate sponge cake
- a few black grapes – cut into halves
- 2 cups skimmed milk
- 2½ tbsp cornflour
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp cocoa
- ½ tsp vanilla essence
Instructions
- Dissolve cornflour & cocoa in ½ cup in milk.
- Heat 1½ cups of milk with sugar in a small heavy bottomed pan. When it boils, add the cornflour & cocoa mixture stirring continuously.
- Boil for 3-4 minutes on medium flame, stirring continuously, till stick.
- Add essence.
- Crumble the chocolate cake slightly to break it into small bits.
- Spread half of the cake in a serving dish.
- Pour half of the hot custard over it.
- Sprinkle half of the grapes.
- Again spread some bits of cake. Pour the left over custard. Set in the fridge.
- When cold, sprinkle some grapes. Serve.
